Welcome, I’m Andrea Brandt. I’m a licensed marriage & family therapist in Santa Monica who sees individuals and couples. I hold a weekly group workshop where men and woman meet to heal trauma and childhood wounds. I teach anger management classes to others in the mental health field across the country.
When I started my practice thirty-five years ago, therapy was more about diagnosis than treatment. Today, there are hundreds of treatment modalities available. A Mind-Body Approach to Therapy
In my individual, group, and couples counseling sessions I weave Sensorimotor Therapy, Psychodynamic, and Gestalt methods together to create a treatment that’s uniquely suited to your needs. I believe this is the most effective way to help with a range of issues including complex trauma, low self-esteem, childhood attachment wounds, relationship conflict, trouble connecting with others, and anger issues from rage to passive-aggressiveness. My approach is top down and bottom up, focused on the mind-body connection.
To heal we must include the physiological level of the client first to help them release their stuck energy so they can restore emotional resources, regulate themselves and regain their life energy. To help you enrich your life we will also use mindfulness, experiment with boundaries, test long-held beliefs, and build trust in a supportive therapeutic space we create together.
